This demo has a duration of 6 minutes 5 seconds.

This video shows how to produce the following text:

Note in regards to the production of this video: Some dictation mistakes are made in this video, and that experience is most probably comparable to any common user after two training sessions are read. That video was not doctored to provide a better than reality picture, but is intended to show a typical usage of a speech recognition product. The real strength of a speech recognition product relies on its flexibility and elegance in fixing mistakes, as they are bound to happen since there is no such thing as a 100% accuracy speech recognition experience. To that extent, we hope that you will appreciate the superior user-experience (patent pending) offered by SpeechVibe that allows you to correct mistakes through the usage of its virtual keyboard and its translucent user-interface without opening any cumbersome window and having to navigate them.

Dictation overview

SpeechVibe offers a dictation user-experience to adapt to all needs. By the default, dictation is paused. That means that if you need to dictate, you will need to say " Resume dictation ". SpeechVibe keeps track of its dictation state at all time, meaning that once it is resumed, you will need to say " Pause dictation " once again to pause it.

Visual clues on dictation's state

Dictation is on. You may speak freely and SpeechVibe will type the content for you. Say " Pause dictation " to pause it.

Dictation is paused. Prior to dictating content, say " Resume dictation ".

Dictation is not available. That could be because of the fact that Windows is not positioned into any object that could receive text input, or it could be because of the way the preferences are configured.

Some Questions and as many answers...

  • In which application is dictation available?

  • SpeechVibe's dictation is available everywhere. Although the featured video demonstrates the dictation features of SpeechVibe by writing into Wordpad, the experience would be comparable in any other Windows application.

  • For commands such as " Bold exceptional speech recognition product ", as featured in the video, which word can I use and what are the limitations?

  • SpeechVibe allows you to use the selection commands for any sequence of words located before the insertion point in the text and within the previous 2 paragraphs.

    • Only numbers up to 10 can be spoken. In example 2 following here, the user cannot say "Select 18", "Bold April 18" or any command that would include the number "18".

    •
    • Formatted content, such as times and dates cannot be spoken, although months in dates such as "April" in example 2 can be spoken.

    •
    • A limit of up to 20 words can be spoken within these commands. For example, in the command " Bold exceptional speech recognition product ", there are 4 words. It would not be possible to sequence more than 20 words in any of these commands.

    Example 1.

In this example, when the insertion point is after the word 'today', the reach of the words that can be selected and formatted are in blue. It is possible to say " Bold exceptional speech recognition product " as featured in the video.

    Example 2.

In this example, when the insertion point is at the end of the document, the reach of the words that can be selected and formatted are in blue. It is NOT possible to say " Bold exceptional speech recognition product " as featured in the video.

That basically means it is important to format the text as you are dictating the content. The user-experience promoted by SpeechVibe is one where the formatting as well as the correction are made immediately following the production of content.
