" Send e-mail "

To invoke this command, say: " Send e-mail "
" Send an e-mail "
" Prepare e-mail "
" Prepare an e-mail "
" Write e-mail "
" Write an e-mail "

Say " send e-mail " to select an e-mail address from your address book or enter it by voice. Upon recognition, this voice command brings a rich translucent environment that allows the speaker to select an e-mail address from multiple ways, as shown below.

While displaying the translucent environment, SpeechVibe reads the address book's content.

From that environment, you may do one of the following:

  • Say 'Edit address book' in order to edit the default address book.
  • Say 'Pick number' from an item in the list of addresses (like "Pick twenty nine" to prepare an e-mail for Ed Bauer).
That will result in having the right list scroll to the first associated Browser favorite and pause for a moment.
  • Say 'Show <letter>' to scroll the associated list at the letter. For example, saying 'Show lima' would result in scrolling the list containing the adresses starting with the letter 'l' to the according position and pause for 2 seconds prior to start scrolling again.
  • Spell-out an e-mail address followed by " Enter ".
Depending on the 'Require "press" or "type" prefix in spell mode' from the 'spelling' page in the preferences, Saying " Press alpha bravo charlie " may be required to spell out.
All the keys in the virtual keyboard that are green are enabled. The ones that are red are disabled.
The phonetic alphabet that is used is the one from the active context's spelling preferences.

Some shortcuts are available for spelling:

    • " dot com " is a shortcut for ".com"
    • " dot net " is a shortcut for ".net"

  • Say " Help me " to invoke the documentation.
  • At any time, you may also say " Escape " to close the translucent environment without invoking any e-mail preparation.

    2. Close the modal window so that the microphone is restored to its original state.

If the status icons are not visible, say " Flash SpeechVibe " and they will be shown momentarily.

If the status icon associated with Command and Control has a red background (as shown below within the red circle), then Command and Control is disabled for the context.

Should the built-in command " Send e-mail " have the 'Enable built-in ways to invoke' check-box not selected, then it is not possible to say " Send e-mail " and have it recognized by SpeechVibe. In that event, the ways to invoke the voice command Send e-mail is not by saying " Send e-mail " but by saying it as described in the 'Custom ways to invoke'. If 'Custom ways to invoke' is empty and 'Enable built-in ways to invoke' check-box is not selected, then it is not possible to invoke the voice command " Send e-mail ".

  • IMPORTANT: SpeechVibe needs to be actively listening.
  • When the microphone is on or sleeping and it is actively listening, the microphone icon's border in the system tray moves. If you do not see the icon's border move, SpeechVibe or Windows is busy on another task. Do not talk when SpeechVibe is not actively listening. Instead wait for the icon in the system tray to move again before talking.
